On our 24h Ship ride to Bikini Atoll we will make a stopover at Kjawalein Atoll. There the “Prinz Eugen” finally sunk after being hauled off from Bikini. The “Prinz Eugen” was one of the target ships damaged in the blasts of Able and Baker nuclear bombs in 1946 at Bikini Atoll.
The Windward, Andreas’ home for the coming two weeks.
Originally a trawler then a pearling mothership, the Windward went through renovation and transformed into an all out remote location watersports support vessel.
While on Beran Island there was plenty of time to test the new Camera and underwater housing under real conditions.
Next Andreas visited Beran Island. Here the boat that should bring him to the goal of his journey – Bikini Atoll – lies anchored.
The Journey to Bikini by Plane took Andreas to Tokio, Guam and the Kwajalein Atoll. The Flight from Guam to Kwajalein was like a Bus trip with a stop on every Island big enough for an air strip.
On June 27th 2017 Andreas Franke left Vienna for the Bikini Atoll.
